To take a relaxing break from studying for final exams, the McAuley United Club at the Brisbane Campus put together a day trip to the Gold Coast! Check out the club’s Facebook page here, McAuley United Club! I would recommend any international or Australian students to join because they have tons of fun events!
The first stop on the Gold Coast trip was to the outlets at Harbour Town to go shopping! Everything was very cheap and nobody spent more than $5 on the clothes they bought! We also got discount cards to help out as well! There were a ton of shops and we had almost 2 hours there! Check out the different shops at Harbour Town Outlet.
Next, we did get a quick photo stop to get some nice pictures of the city and bay! It was a gorgeous day and perfect weather for exploring the Gold Coast!
We then headed to Point Danger! It is the border between the two states, Queensland and New South Wales. In the picture, you can see the division between the states. We had to change streets so that always stayed on the Queensland side :)!
Once we were at Point Danger, we lounged in the sun, had a delicious BBQ, and explored the lighthouse and views! There were also memorials to ships from World War II to look at and read about! Here’s a picture of the lighthouse!
Heading back to the van, we made our last stop to Surfer’s Paradise! We checked out the games and played pool, table hockey, and basketball. We also had some time at the beach, which is beautiful even at night.
Finally, we ate another BBQ, had some cake, and headed home!
The trip was over 12 hours long and so much fun! There were amazing people on the trip and we had an awesome bus driver/tour guide! It was the last time I’d see many of the international students and I’m glad I got the chance to have such a fun day with them!
Where would you want ACU to take you to?
