Celebrating all things cultural at ACU Posted on
We celebrate our multicultural staff and students with our annual Cultural Fiesta!

Our Cultural Fiestas have been happening across the ACU campuses over the last few weeks and every one of them was a colourful celebration of the multicultural backgrounds of our students and staff!

Here are some photos from the events on our Brisbane, Melbourne, North Sydney and Strathfield campuses.

The Queensland sun shone brightly on Brisbane’s 2017 Cultural Fiesta which took place on 20 September.

Staff, students and members of the local community came together to celebrate the wonderful cultural diversity on campus.

Entertainment included student dance performances by a number of Pacifica groups and a group of Nepalese students presented an enchanting traditional Nepalese dance followed by a solo vocal performance. Other highlights included a performance from an indigenous dance troupe which was preceded by a smoking ceremony and an acknowledgment to country and there was also a captivating solo Irish dance performance.  Many students and staff took the opportunity to get adorned with a henna tattoo and an array of international food was enjoyed by everyone.

In Melbourne the Cultural Day was celebrated on October 3 at St Mary’s the Cross. The weather turned out to be perfect for the outdoor venue. International Students set up stalls representing their nationality with decorations and they wore their traditional dress and conducted different activities and games with prizes to be won. Everyone enjoyed the free food and drinks while watching some amazing performances by International students.

The Cultural Diversity Night in Strathfield was a joint collaboration between Student Enrichment, the International Office and Dr. JoAnne Harris from the Education faculty on September 5. The program included cultural musical performances that took guests from France to Argentina. Free gozleme was served for dinner along with tea and baklava. The Cultural Fiesta took place in North Sydney on September 14 with musical performances, traditional dances and of course food from different corners of the world!
